MASTER JIM HULSE KYOSHI 7TH DAN UECHI RYU KARATE Do INSTRUCTOR I am proud to say that Hanshi Van Canna 9th Dan Uechi Ryu Karate is my Sensei. 5th DAN KYUSHO INSTRUCTOR DIPLOMA LEVEL INSTRUCTOR IN QIGONG Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire,
England Sensei Jim Hulse and his son Scott Scott is available for seminars (more information) Welcome to the homepage of Kyusho Jitsu and Uechi-Ryu Karate. My name is Jim Hulse and I hold the rank of Kyoshi 7th Dan in Uechi-Ryu Karate Do, Godan in Kyusho Do and an Instructors Diploma in Qigong. I have been involved in the martial arts since 1971. I hope that you find this site interesting and informative. It is not intended to show that the style I practice is superior or inferior to any other style. It is just Uechi-Ryu Karate Do. This is a new start and was created on the 25 June 2002. I am sure that it will change constantly so please visit often to see any new additions. During my study of Kyusho, Qigong and Uechi-Ryu I have met many people and several have had a distinct impact on the way I practice and teach. I would like to thank those people publicly through my homepage. They are, Colin Roughton. My first Sensei who taught me to train hard and strong all the time. Thank you Colin. Master David Scott. My Uechi Ryu Sensei. A remarkable man who gave me great insight into all aspects of Uechi-Ryu for many years. His teaching is steadfast and his philosophy and endurance through life gave me great admiration. A good friend and Sensei whenever I needed him to be. Many thanks to you Dave. The Late Master Kanei Uechi. I was so honoured to meet the Master of Uechi-Ryu Karate on Okinawa. He was a most humble man who inspired me completely. I respect and honour him through my training and philosophy. During my visit to Okinawa in 1981, I studied under the direct tutelage of Grand Master Kanei Uechi at his Dojo in Futenma. At the conclusion of my intensive study, 18 November 1981, Grand Master Uechi awarded me the rank of Nidan, a certificate of Advanced Study and the Certificate of Instructor, thereby bestowing upon me Grand Master Uechi's personal endorsement and formal approval to teach and promote the art of Uechi Ryu Karate Do. Master Jim Corn. A very inspirational person whose dedication to his art is second to none. His no nonsense approach made kyusho very enjoyable. Jim, I thank you for all the little insights into kyusho that you told me. Those little insights made my kyusho much bigger and I will train very harder to honour your faith in my abilities. Some people described us as the two Jims who teach in a direct, simple and effective manner, what a honour for me! Master Tony Court. A very special and most sincere person who has brought me in to the world of Qigong. His skill and understanding and unique teaching skills have aloud me to progress in qigong with confidence and deep understanding. Tony, I can not thank you enough for your time, effort and friendship in helping me with this journey.
All of my students past and present. Thank you all for helping me to learn so much about martial arts. During the earlier years of my teaching back in 79/80 I had the support of two people from Liverpool besides that of David Scott. I was the only Uechi Ryu dojo in the Midlands, I still am! Both Steve McNally and Danny Haigh travelled down to Stoke to help with instruction. They also gave up their time to bring me up to shodan level. Steve McNally also took all of my classes during my trip to Okinawa. They both remain good friends. Peter Ruscoe, who still trains with me, has been a rcok in the dojo. Always reliable, always willing and a good friend and completely dedicated to his art. May we grow old together practising Uechi Ryu and all things good. Finally, my warmest thanks go to my family, Gill, my wife (Nidan), Scott my son (Godan), Debbie (almost Shodan) and my Grandsons Jordan, Noe and Jacob. Without their support my martial arts would not be relevant or enjoyable. Although Gill no longer trains she is my rock from where my martial arts life gains it's spark and burns so strong to this day. Debbie is still an inspiration to me and she has gifted me with Jordan. Scott still trains with me and causes me to debate all things in martial arts. Scott has also gifted me with two more grandsons, Noe and Jacob. I think it is a ploy by by kids to make me feel older!!! Is it working, nahh!!!
