Qigong?
Traditional Chinese Medicine philosophy states that ones health is dependent upon the continuous flow of Qi (vital energy) through pathways in the body called meridians. Injury and ill health cause disturbances in this flow leading to further symptoms of disease and loss of well being. Pain is seen as a result of stagnation or blockages in the Qi flow. Qigong (also spelled Ch'i Kung) is a powerful system of healing and energy medicine from China. It is the art and science of using breathing techniques, gentle movement, and meditation to cleanse, strengthen, and circulate the life energy (qi). Qigong practice leads to better health and vitality and a tranquil state of mind. In the past, qigong was also called nei gong (inner work) and dao yin (guiding energy).
Similar to Reiki, in that the practitioner seeks to affect change in the clients Qi flow without necessarily touching the body, external Qigong healing manipulates the Qi flow by stimulating specific acupoints along the Meridians. The practitioner seeks to overcome obstacles and areas of stagnation in the Qi flow by guiding Qi through affected (i.e. painful) areas.
Most clients feel this stimulation tangibly, as heat, tingling and other sensations, during this treatment.
Tuina?
The term "Tuina" translates into "push-grasp" in Chinese. Physically, it is a series of pressing, tapping, and kneading that removes blockages along the meridians of the body and stimulates the flow of Qi and blood to promote healing, similar to principles of acupuncture, and acupressure. Tuina's massage-like techniques range from light stroking to deep-tissue work which would never to considered during a recreational or relaxing massage.
What to Expect?
When you go into a typical adult Tuina session, the patient wears loose clothing and lies on a massage table or floor pad. After answering some brief questions about the nature and location of the health problem as well as basic questions about general health, allergies and other existing conditions, the practitioner will concentrate on specific acupressure points, energy trigger points, muscles and joints surrounding the affected area. Never go for a treatment just after eating...wait at least an hour.
Don't expect a light, relaxing massage, this therapeutic method goes directly after the problems, sometimes requiring significant pressure. When excessive friction from rubbing or stroking is involved, the practitioner may choose to use talcum power, sesame oil, ointment of Chinese holly leaf, oil from HongHua, or a specialized massage emulsion or oil developed for Tuina.
Occasionally, clothing is removed or repositioned to expose a particular spot that requires direct skin contact. The patient will always be informed before this act.
Treatment sessions last from 30 minutes to over an hour. Patients often return for additional treatments for chronic conditions. As with most "energy-based" treatments, the patient usually feels either relaxed and tired, or surprisingly energized by the treatment and release of pain.
Reflexology?
Reflexology can be used to help restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium. This gentle therapy encourages the body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance. There are approximately 7200 nerve endings on the feet, and these relate to various organs and glands within the body. A mirror image of the body has been mapped on the feet and it is thought that presure applied on specific reflex points on the feet may affect the corresponding part of the body.
Traditional Chinese Medicine advises that energy flow or Chi which flows through the body, if disrupted can cause illness or dis-ease and Reflexology aims to restore and maintain balance.
The body has its own powerful healing response, Reflexology aims to stimulate this into normal functioning and once acheived, help to maintain Homeostasis or balance.
Initially Reflexology might speed up the circulation, it also induces a feeling deep relaxation. Reflexology aims to stimulate the body's own organs and systems to work at their optimum levels and to maintain Homeostasis.

Moxibustion?
Moxibustion is a form of fire heat treatment that stimulates specific acupuncture points of the body.
There are two types of Moxa applications, direct and indirect. Currently, the more popular form of moxibustion in many countries including China is the indirect form, because there is a much lower risk of pain or burning. In indirect moxibustion, a practitioner lights one end of a moxa stick (roughly the shape and size of a cigar) and holds it an inch or two away from the skin, usually around the inserted needles to bring mild warmth to the area without burning, until the skin becomes slightly red. The intensity of the heat is adjusted according to the patients condition and comfort. Indirect moxa is considered to induce a gradual localized vasodilatation response. In addition to increasing the local blood flow, skillful indirect moxibustion is extremely comforting and can create a deep relaxation response.
Remedial Massage?
Remedial Massage is deep tissue massage that efficiently treats injuries. It removes blockages and damaged cells, speeding up recovery and encouraging complete healing. Regular massage ensures that unnoticeably small injuries are treated before they reduce performance. It effectively removes scar tissue remaining after old injuries, reducing repeat injuries. Lack of blood supply to the spine is a significant cause of long-term back pain. Lack of movement and incorrect use of muscles reduces oxygen supply, resulting in pain. Remedial Massage increases blood supply to soft tissue.
Auricular Acupuncture?
Auricular Acupuncture is the art of inserting needles into acupuncture points
on the outer ear. These points correspond to all areas of our body. This gentle
stimulation creates a specific response, aids our natural healing mechanism
and helps us to rebalance. By sending the right signals to different areas of
our body, it promotes natural self-healing.
Used widely in the field of addiction treatment, Auricular Acupuncture 5 Point
Protocol was founded by Dr Michael Smith of New York City.
Regular treatments can help the client physically, emotionally and psychologically,
increasing mental clarity and the ability to focus. It helps reduce headaches,
body aches, sweating, sleep disturbances, anxiety, tremors, depression and emotional
symptoms such as grief and anger.
As a therapy, it is frequently used effectively for:
Smoking cessation,
Weight loss/management,
Stress, alcohol or drug addiction,
Chronic pain /back ache/headaches
Detox
Lifestyle changes.
